The Richard “Burp” Howard Memorial Scholarship

The Richard “Burp” Howard Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 by his family as a way to remember and honor him, a former Madison High School graduate.

Burp was an avid sports fan all his life. He spent hours at Flynn Field watching the Broncos and Legion baseball teams in the summer, cheering on the players he knew so well. When school started, he would turn his attention to the Madison Bulldog sports teams. Celebrated as the #1 Madison Bulldogs fan, he rarely missed a high school game and provided encouragement to the players from his favorite seat right next to the court.

This scholarship is designed to aid a student who will be attending a college, tech school, or trade school. Due to Burp’s love of the game, preference will be given to those who participated in Bulldog athletics.
